Hi, I'm Jan - The Style Architect.

I love clothes and the impact they have on how we look, how we feel and how we act.

You run your own business, you represent your business, you speak on stage, you speak on line, you network, you are a leader in your business. You are the face of your business and you need to be the best version of you.

I know what this means. I have run my own business for 15 years and in the times when I wasn't doing that, I was in sales. Looking my best in order to influence others and lead a team was my business.

How would it feel to knowing that every time you have to be the best version of yourself, the getting dressed part, the visual part, the most impactful part of you, in that first instance was taken care of because you know that whatever you choose to wear is the right colour, the right fit, and the right shape for you.

What a great start to the day!

How it all started

I was always into clothes and fashion and made my own clothes from a young age. At some point, people who I didn't know paid me for dressmaking. "Sew Different", a service creating and making bespoke occasion wear, was created. The aim of the business was helping people look and feel amazing for their special occasion.

Around 2014, I wanted to bring colour and style advice to my clients. I trained in personal style and started to understand how much more there was to this than simply making sure the colour and the style was right.

It was then that The Style Architect was developed, incorporating dressmaking with personal style personal branding.

I gravitated to the world of paid employment with interior sales, all of which was disrupted in 2020. A relocation and another job later, by 2023 I realised where my heart was.

I love clothes and I love helping people be the best version of themselves, so The Style Architect 2.0 is where it's at now, an AICI certified Online Colour Consultant with a great new business!

Some fun facts about me

I love creative art and textiles, I have a City in Guild in Creative Textiles and in 2024 I started a Degree in Creative Arts.

I am a dressmaker and I love to create. I talk colour, style, fabrics and texture in dressmaker language. If you're a dressmaker, lets get that stash and those patterns sorted!

The first wedding dress I made was put on display in the shop window where I bought the fabric from.

Having spent time working in the world of interiors I have specialist knowledge in curtains and blinds. I can advise you on the best options for your curtains and blinds!

I have a degree in Urban Studies and a Masters Degree in Civic Design. I was a Town Planner in and around North West England.

On of my favourite workshops I teach is creating your style board. I love it when people suddenly realise the images in front of them are telling them a story about themselves

I had got stuck with my clothes. Everything I had was passed on to me from my sister and I was still accepting it all - I was 46 years old!

Jan helped me work through my wardrobe, establish what my own style was, and what colours suited me. It totally changed my mindset around clothes.

Jan did my colours and style. I always wore black jeans, leggings, and a black top. It was my go to.

Armed with the information Jan gave me, I felt confident to slowly introduce some colours and buy some clothes that suited me. It really helped me to stop trying to hide behind the black.

I love dress up! I love re-enactment, nostalgia days and dressing in war time costume with all the hair and the make up. My day to day however, was terrible.

No thought for me and how I looked, like the day job just didn't make me count. Working with Jan, we went back to basics and slowly I built up me again.
