10 Ways to be the Best Version of Yourself

10: Understand the dress code.

There are a myriad of different dress codes, and many that people and organisations just make up to confuse us! Never be afraid to ask the host for clarification and be respectful. Aim to be the best dressed person in the room.

9. Be immaculately groomed.

You might have the colour and style right but what about the hair, make up, nails, lingerie, hosiery. Any mishaps, broken and chipped nails, wet hair all act as distractions, will be noticed and your message will be diluted.

8. Don't forget the accessories and things in your bag

We still all have bits and pieces to carry around and if you are lacking pockets (too many women's clothes still lack pockets) you need somewhere to keep your phone because carrying it around with you constantly is just a pain. Think about the quality of the bag, the phone case, the pen, the notebook, the wallet, etc. All the little things. If you pull out a tatty old bit of kit, it will be noticed, again, a distraction from your message.

7. Reflect your personality

Dress for yourself, reflect your personality. Do not dress how you think someone else wants you to dress. You will feel uncomfortable and it won't be authentic.

6. Reflect your personality in a uniform

If you have to wear some kind of uniform for your job then always find a way to inject your personality. You can do that with your shoes, your jewellery, your hosiery, your lingerie,

5. Find your best neutral colours

Black and white is not simple. Only a few people suit a true black or white. Be clear on what suits you best. Explore charcoal grey and dark navy as an alternative to black. Try whites with warm or cool tones added. Find out and wear them well.

4. Understand Colours

Understand the best colours for your skin tone and which colours to wear close to your face or keep away from your face. Colour reflects your skin tone. Some colours make you look washed out, ill or older than you are because they will highlight the redness or the wrinkles. There are many colours that will make you shine, make you look amazing and in turn, make you feel fantastic. Find them and wear them.

3.Wear clothes that fit

Not all size labels are created equally and no manufacturer ever made a size to fit your exact body measurements, unless of course you’ve gone bespoke. The size in the back of the clothes is just a number, it's there to help the manufacturer, not you. What matters to you is the fit. Whatever you wear, to reflect your personal brand, to get your message out there, needs to fit. Not only will you look more put together but you will feel far more comfortable with the knowledge that a wardrobe malfunction is not going to happen.

2. Wear clothes that flatter you

The shapes and styles of clothes look different on different people. It really depends on your body shape and proportions. Consider what your brand is, who you are communicating with and what you have to say. Do not be consumed by the clothes, consider the lines, the layers, the texture, the shapes, there is a version of the same thing that looks much better on you than the other version.

1. Employ the services of a Personal Stylist

A personal stylist will help you and guide you to your best colours and how to wear them, uncover your style personality, advise on the best shapes, style and texture of clothes that will suit your body shape and help you get clarity in your wardrobe.

Be the best version of yourself, be international about getting dressed.
